Extract still images from a video
FrameKit samples frames across the full clip rather than guessing which image is “best.” It is useful for video contact sheets, checking a product from different angles, building storyboards, collecting thumbnail candidates, and making reference images. A JPG still cannot contain more real detail than the source video; source resolution and motion blur still matter.
For the sharpest images, use a well-lit clip, keep camera motion smooth, and choose a video recorded at a high resolution. For sports or action footage, pause during the moment of interest and use a dedicated frame-by-frame editor if you need a particular exact frame.
Frequently asked questions
Does the video upload to your server?
No. The file is decoded locally using your browser video and canvas features.
Can it convert MOV files?
Only if your browser supports the MOV file's underlying codec. MP4 with H.264 or WebM is the most portable choice.
Why do I sometimes get blurry images?
Heavy motion blur, low source resolution or a compressed input video will produce soft frames. Exporting at larger dimensions cannot restore lost detail.
